DOUGLAS COUNTY, Colo. - A pregnant woman from Falcon didn't make it to the hospital in time.
Nathan Simpson, 29, packed his wife and their three daughters into the car to head for Parker Adventist Hospital at 5:45 a.m. Tuesday morning.
They were still about 35 minutes from the hospital when Stephanie Simpson, 30, knew the baby couldn't wait any longer.
The family pulled over on Highway 83 near Jones Road at about 6:30 a.m., Dave Woodrick with Franktown Fire Protection District confirmed.
Emergency dispatchers were able to track the location of the father's cell phone and made it to the couple about 12 minutes later, Woodrick said.
The baby began to crown just as Tri Lakes Fire (Monument) and Franktown Fire departments arrived, hospital officials said.
After the delivery, baby Karaline and her family were brought to Parker Adventist, where they are all doing well.
Karaline arrived just a few days late. She was due this past Sunday, Mar. 23.
She joins sisters Kirina, 5, Kaelynn, 3, and Kenna, 21 months.
