CARBONDALE, Colo. - Authorities in western Colorado say a man impersonating a police officer stole $20 from a 13-year-old boy.
The Aspen Daily News reported Friday that the man approached the boy on Tuesday in Carbondale, 25 miles northwest of Aspen. Authorities say the man told the boy he shouldn't be riding his bike on the street while playing music and demanded $20, which the boy gave him.
The man was driving a car described as being similar to a police vehicle with very dark tinted windows and "Police" written on the sides of the front and rear doors and "911" on the rear fender, according to Carbondale police.
Police asked anyone who spots the vehicle to safely try to obtain the license plate number and contact the Carbondale Police Department or your local law enforcement agency.
The suspect is described as a middle-aged white man who is bald with blue eyes and is about 6-feet to 6-feet-2 inches tall.
