AURORA, Colo. - Water service is back on after a 24-inch water main broke at 64th Avenue, just east of North Tower Road.

About 300-500 homes in the Single Tree and High Pointe neighborhoods did not have water for about 5 hours, according to Greg Baker with Aurora Water Public Relations.  Officials say that included roughly 1000 people.

Aurora Water crews had to activate an interconnect shared with Denver Water, then flush hydrants in the area to help restore chlorine levels to regulatory standards.

High Point Academy is closed Tuesday because of the water main break.
