AURORA, Colo. – An Aurora Police Department officer is being praised online for his gesture of goodwill.
Aurora Officer Keith Burke was called out to a gas station in recent days after someone was reported to be using counterfeit money while trying to fill up their car with gas.
When he arrived, he discovered the person with the counterfeit bills had no idea they were fake.
Police say the person was reduced to tears, with no other way to pay for gas and feeling victimized over being given fake money.
So Officer Burke used his own personal money to pay for the person’s gas.
“This generosity and human caring is above and beyond what is expected from our officers,” Aurora police wrote on Facebook.
