TONGANOXIE, Kan. - An Aurora man has been identified as the victim of a crash on Interstate 70 in Kansas.
He died when a semi crashed into a Kansas Turnpike tollbooth on I-70 just before 3 a.m. Saturday.
Kansas Highway Patrol said the semi was traveling westbound on I-70 at full highway speed when it slammed into the booth near Bonner Springs. No toll collectors were working at the time.
Authorities have identified the driver as Sergiy Angelchev, 30, and passenger Roman Ilyaich, 25, both of Aurora, Colo. Angelchev was pronounced dead at the scene. Ilyaich is in critical condition at the hospital.
One lane remains closed as crews work to repair the booth.
