ATV crash investigated as possible child abuse after 3-year-old injured

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Colo. - The grandson of Weld County Commissioner Barbara Kirkmeyer was injured in a Jefferson County all-terrain vehicle crash, and authorities are investigating the incident as a possible case of felony child abuse, according to the Greeley Tribune.
A 3-year-old boy was injured while riding an ATV Saturday, said Jacki Kelley, spokeswoman for the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office. The boy was taken to Children’s Hospital.
Kelly told the newspaper that crash is being investigated on suspicion of felony child abuse.
Kelley did not release names of those involved in the crash. However, two Denver television stations reported that the boy is Kirkmeyer’s grandson.
