WESTMINSTER, Colo. - Westminster Police are asking for the public's help in locating a suspect in a reported attempted abduction of an 11-year-old girl.
According to police, the girl was walking to a bus stop near 123rd Avenue and Huron Street at about 7 a.m. Thursday when a man approached her and tried to get her to go with him in his Jeep. The girl was able to run away and reported the incident to an adult.
The suspect was described as a white man, about 40 years of age. He is 5 feet 9 to 6 feet tall, with brown hair. He was last seen wearing a blue t-shirt and black jeans.
The vehicle he was driving was described as an older model Jeep Cherokee that is bluish-green in color, with tinted windows and an unknown license plate.
The Westminster Police Department will have increased patrols in the neighborhood and near the bus stop for the next several days.
They are asking for anyone in the area who sees or has seen a vehicle/person matching the above description to contact Detective Judy Grigg 303-658-4229.
If you see anyone suspicious in the neighborhood you are urged to call 911.
Westminster Police want to remind parents to talk with their children about not approaching strange vehicles, and to run away and tell an adult as soon as possible.
