Assault at 12th, Santa Fe turns to homicide; Denver police investigating

DENVER - Police are investigating after a man who was assaulted at 12th and Santa Fe later died.
Officers received a call of an assault in progress at about 5:49 p.m. Monday .
Police say a person assaulted the victim at West 12th Avenue and Santa Fe Drive and then fled before officers arrived. The victim was taken to Denver Health, where he was pronounced dead.
Officers have not released any additional information about the person they are looking for. The death is being investigated as a homicide.
The identification of the victim and the exact cause of death are pending the medical examiner's report.
