ARVADA, Colo. - Arvada residents said they paid for trash service, but the garbage man stopped coming.
"I've been here for 42 years, and I've never had anything like this ever happen," said Loretta Sedlmayer.
Sedlmayer and Mary Miller told 7NEWS they heard about Environmental Waste Solutions from a neighbor.
"She said, 'Go with Environmental Waste, they're really nice, they're really prompt every Tuesday morning, and they were cheaper,'" said Miller.
Miller and Sedlmayer said they pre-paid for three months of service with the company, but their trash is still sitting by the curb.
"So, here I am paid through the month of June, and I can't get a hold of the people supposed to do this," said Miller.
The Better Business Bureau of Denver/Boulder received 54 complaints in the last week against Environmental Waste Solutions. According to the BBB, "The company is in the process of being sold. The BBB is unclear if or when customers who paid for services in advance will be reimbursed."
"They know that we are all, on this block, we are all senior citizens. Most of us live on social security or a pension of some kind. I think it's criminal, and I think they should be forced to refund the money," said Miller.
"It just makes me feel angry because I have never been through this before," said Sedlmayer.
Environmental Waste Solutions is not licensed to do business in the City of Arvada. Arvada compiled this list of licensed recycling and trash haulers for residents.
