ARVADA, Colo. - Arvada police are asking for the public's help in locating an accused child molester.
Jason McDavitt, 36, is charged with two counts of sexual assault on a child by a person in a position of trust in connection with an Arvada case.
Police said McDavitt had moved from Colorado to California when charges were filed in 2011 but was extradited to stand trial in Jefferson County. McDavitt failed to appear for his trial on Monday and a warrant was issued for his arrest. He also has a restraining order prohibiting him from having any contact with anyone under the age of 18, police said.
McDavitt is a Hispanic male, 5 feet 9 inches tall, with black hair and brown eyes. He has numerous tattoos, inlcuding one of Bob Marley on his right forearm. Police said he is known to have family in California, Ohio, Washington and New York.
