GOLDEN, Colo. — An Arvada blood donor reached a milestone all in the name of close family member lost to cancer.
Jack Joyce has donated 70 gallons of blood. He made his 560th donation at the Bonfires Blood Center in Golden Monday morning.
Bonfils' Facebook page noted:
"Jack Joyce was a blood donor long before his niece, Kelly Jo battled and lost her fight with leukemia. But the knowledge that platelet transfusions gave her comfort has since driven him to ensure he donates each time he’s eligible to keep her memory alive and to help many other patients in need."
Joyce has become only the 10th donor at the center to have reached that level.
