Centaurus High School threat suspect identified

Lafayette Police have identified the man arrested in connection with multiple threatening telephone calls that triggered lockouts at three schools.

The calls were made to Centaurus High School around 9 a.m. Friday, according to commander Brian Rosipajla with the Lafayette Police Department.

The Centaurus and nearby Angevine Middle and Ryan Elementary schools were placed in lockout and surrounding law enforcement agencies helped secure the schools.

The investigation into the threats lead police to an adult male in the city of Arvada. He was arrested around 1:45 p.m. and the lockouts were lifted.

"We have arrested Dennis Martinez, age 21, from Arvada. He has been charged with menacing, a Class 5 felony and interference with staff, faculty or students of an education facility, a Class 1 misdemeanor ," police said on Saturday. Police did not release a booking photo.

The case is still under investigation.
