Arrest in burglary and possible sexual offense in University of Colorado Boulder dorm

BOULDER, Colo. - A freshman at the University of Colorado Boulder was arrested Monday in connection with a burglary and possible sexual offense in Smith Hall last month.

Jonathan Rubeck, 18, was arrested on suspicion of two counts of felony burglary and one count of misdemeanor theft, according to the University of Colorado Boulder Police Department.

Two female residents of Smith Hall reported that an intoxicated man briefly entered their room twice and left between 1 and 5 a.m. on Nov. 10.

Then, CU Police said they received two reports of stolen women’s undergarments from Dec. 7 to 9, including one that involved a burglary of a Smith Hall room.

Investigators obtained a search warrant for Rubeck's room on Dec. 9. Evidence found in his room and information provided during an interview led to his arrest at about 9 p.m., campus police said.

He was booked into Boulder County Jail without incident.

"All indications are that Rubeck acted alone,” investigators said.

Any potential additional victims are asked to call UCPD at 303-492-6666.
