GREENWOOD VILLAGE, Colo. -- Denver7 is proud to be the media sponsor for Arc Thrift Store's "Born to Be Me" fundraiser gala on Saturday, September 9th. Arc is celebrating nearly five decades of advocating for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities throughout Colorado.

The theme of this year’s Gala is “A Celebration of the Human Spirit.” Arc will be recognizing three of its employees as "heroes of the year."

Tara Wehry works at the Arc Thrift Store on Broadway. She loves working in production, hanging and sorting clothes and putting items on the sales floor.

Katherine Moore works in the Children’s Department at the Arc Thrift Store on Bowles. Katherine is also a sports fan and participates in the Global Down Syndromes Dare to Play Camps.

Heather Pyle works as a greeter at the Westminster Arc Thrift Store. She is also a born singer, actress and puppeteer. She performs with her puppet as a greeter at Arc.

Denver7 news anchors Anne Trujillo and Shannon Ogden will be the event’s emcees.

The event will include a dinner, a live and silent auction, and a fashion show featuring outfits gleaned from the 25 Arc Thrift Stores in Colorado.

At last year's gala, Arc raised over $300,000 to support its mission of advocating and supporting people in Colorado with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
