An Evans police officer shoots gunman during an early Saturday morning confrontation

EVANS, Colo. - A gunman is hospitalized after an officer shot him during a disturbance around 1 a.m. on Saturday.
Evans police arrived to the area of 4000 Mariposa Lane and found an armed man.
An officer shot the gunman during the confrontation. The suspect was transported to North Colorado Medical Center with gunshot wounds.
His condition is not known at this time.
The officer who was involved in the shooting has been placed on paid administrative leave.
Evans and Greeley police are investigating the incident.
No names have been released.
