An Amtrak train derailed in central Vermont on Monday morning.

ABC News reported that five cars, all occupied, derailed after hitting a rock slide on the tracks.

ABC also reported that four people were hospitalized.

Amtrak confirmed in a Twitter post that the Vermonter train from St. Albans to Washington, D.C., is the train that derailed in Northfield, about 10 miles southwest of Montpelier.

NBC News reported that a couple from Windsor, Colorado said the ride was smooth until they "felt something hitting the train, which wasn't normal, and then all hell broke loose."

Rodger Bell said he and his wife were "tossed around a bit" but weren't hurt.
