America's best high schools: Where does Colorado rank?

DENVER - The Daily Beast/Newsrank ranked the best 2,000 high schools in the nation.

The list is based on the schools' graduation rate, college acceptance rate, test scores and other criteria related to Advanced Placement classes and tests.

Among Colorado schools, only two schools cracked the top 100 in the country. Those schools are Peak to Peak Charter School in Lafayette which came in at 49th and Fairview High School in Boulder which came in 98th.

Others that were ranked in Colorado are:

 - 174. D'Evelyn Jr./Sr. High School in Denver

- 286.  Aspen High School in Aspen

- 385. Cherry Creek High School in Greenwood Village

- 398. Smoky Hill High School in Aurora

- 423. Evergreen High School in Evergreen

- 471. Rock Canyon High School in Highlands Ranch

- 479. Rampart High School in Colorado Springs
