AURORA, Colo. – Amazon has begun hiring for 1,000 full-time positions at their new fulfillment center in Aurora.

The online retailer is spending $130 million to build the center on Smith Road near Picadilly. The center will be the company’s first in Colorado when it opens late summer.

The one-million square foot center will handle larger-sized items, such as sports equipment, musical instruments and furniture.

The Aurora Economic Development Council said most of the jobs at the fulfillment center will offer annual salaries in the low $30,000 range. It said a few managerial and human resource positions will pay more.

Full-time employees receive competitive hourly wages and a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental and vision insurance, the company said in a new release Thursday.

Applicants can apply online.
