LARIMER COUNTY, Colo. - The fire that started in a remote area of Larimer County last week was started by an escaped campfire, according to the U.S. Forest Service.

The fire on Alexander Mountain in the Big Thompson Canyon started Thursday and was controlled on Friday.

It burned about one acre.

About 20 firefighters responded, officials said.

Officials are asking anyone who was in the area last week or has information related to this fire to call fire investigator Terry Baxter at 970-295-6719.
