CENTENNIAL, Colo. – Officials confirmed late Thursday morning a plane crashed into the runway at Centennial Airport.

The pilot, the only person onboard the single-engine plane, suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene. The experimental aircraft was arriving from the east when it crashed.

Details as to what caused the plane to crash are not known, but officials from Centennial Airport tweeted an image showing the plane flipped over on the runway. South Metro Fire crews are on the scene assisting.

The aircraft appeared to have sustained some nose damage. An investigation into the cause will follow.
