WINDSOR, Colo. -- The death of a student rattled a small community near Greely, Colorado in Windsor on Thursday.

Police responded to Brunner Farm Park as authorities issued a lockout at nearby Windsor High School. Police originally responded to address an attempted suicide.

While responding, police said they began a death investigation at the same scene, but have not commented further.

No students were at any point threatened, and activities continued at the school throughout the day. Councilors and other resources were made available for students.

"Today we are dealing with the death of one of our Windsor High School students," a release said. "Trained personnel at Windsor High School have been activated under our Crisis Plan to support students and staff."

Police say they plan to release more information as their investigation continues.

Nearby coaches, students and more have voiced their support for the Windsor community as they cope with the death of the teen.

A Windsor church announced in the afternoon it would be open after school from 4 to 8:30 p.m. with a crisis management team. Those interested can visit the Timberline Windsor Church at 360 Crossroads Boulevard.
