A baby girl is hospitalized after being attacked by a family pit bull in Grand Junction

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. - An 8-month old baby girl has been hospitalized after being attacked by the family's pit bull on Tuesday night, Mesa County authorities said.

Our sister station KJCT-TV reports Mesa County sheriff's deputies responded about 7 p.m. to a dog attack at a home in the 500 block of Ronlin Street in Grand Junction.

The infant was transported to St. Mary's Hospital. Authorities did not release the baby's condition or the extent of her injuries.

Animal services has taken custody of the pit pull and the Mesa County Sheriff's Office is continuing to investigate the attack, KJCT-TV reported.
