DENVER, Colo. -- For the first time, every University of Colorado graduate was surveyed about their experience post-graduation looking back.

New numbers just released from the University run survey show that of the 15,000 respondents, 96 percent of them are very satisfied with their education at CU.

And President Bruce Benson doesn’t believe in reality there are a lot of CU grads who can’t find jobs out of college.

“I don't believe it, I mean our people are saying no, they're getting jobs and some people don't want to go out and find a job right now," said Benson.

The study indicates that 81 percent of respondents were employed within a year after graduating and shows that CU grads have a student loan default rate of 3 to 4 percent.

“If you're paying your debt you probably have a job, so I just think that that's another indicator that I look at because all of these pieces work together," said Benson.

Additionally, the study shows that CU graduates are earning an average salary of $76,000 per year and on average, graduates from CU earn $20,000 more than graduates from other in-state schools.

Benson said the success after graduation is a direct results of the way the university is working to change its teaching in its classrooms.

"We've changed how we teach, how we do things, you know there's no point teaching people a lot of stuff if they don't get it, you've got to have retention of that knowledge," said Benson.
