Kidgits Book Blast

What: This free event will provide families the chance to make reading a fun, social experience with various kid-focused offerings. Book Blast event activities will kick off with an exciting read-aloud session presented by Chief Kevin Paletta of the Lakewood Police Department. Children are also invited to bring a new or gently used book to the event to be donated to The Action Center. In addition, there will be activity and coloring sheets, plus a writing exercise for kids to enjoy.

BaoBao Festival

What: BaoBao Festival’s mission is to entertain, educate and build community in Colorado through artistic performances inspired by West African tradition and culture. For the past ten years BaoBao Festival has brought local, national, and international performers to Colorado for a celebration of Africa’s age-old community theater experience of gathering under the baobab tree.  The Festival is an exciting celebration that weaves together West African singing, storytelling, drumming and dance.

Spring into Fitness

What: Now is the perfect time to lose those wintertime blues, recharge your fitness routine and refuel your body.

Japanese Doll & Cultural Festival

What: Come and learn about some of the cultures from Japan. See many different displays and live performances, including special dolls for Girl’s Day, which includes the Emperor and Empress and court. Other displays include kimonos, ikebana (flower arrangement), bonsai, and calligraphy. Live performances include taiko drums, Japanese dance, martial arts and music.

Where: Simpson United Methodist Church, 6001 Wolff, Arvada, Colo.

Rocky Mountain Toy Train Show

What: Make it a day or a weekend of Family Fun with 2-1/2 acres of toy trains of all scales, including 30 operating train layouts. See classic and modern trains from American Flyer, Athearn, Atlas, Bachmann, Blackstone, Broadway Limited, Kato, LGB, Lionel, Marx, MTH and Walthers. Free kids activities include Hands-On Layouts, Railroad Story Time, Kid-In-A-Cab, Railroad Theater, and our Build-A-Layout project. Train rides, Face painting and Lil Engineer portraits are available for additional fare.

What: Join us for this great concert sponsored by the Aurora Museum Foundation. Acclaimed Celtic fingerstyle guitarist & storyteller Jerry Barlow performs his repertoire of Celtic inspired compositions & traditional music. Jerry brings Celtic tunes alive by sharing the history & legends behind the music. Become a member of the Museum Foundation and receive free admission.

On the Spot

What: In the style of "Whose Line Is It Anyway," four actors and a moderator use audience suggestions to make for an action-packed night of craziness. "On The Spot" remains a local favorite, using the audience's unique suggestions to improvise scenes, games, and songs to make newcomers or regulars laugh themselves silly! See as many as 25 games performed in one show.
