Douglas County Fair & Rodeo

What: A family tradition for residents of Douglas County, Colo. Highlights include 2 entertainment stages, 3 PRCA Rodeos, Xtreme Bulls, Carnival, Antique Tractor Pull, Mutton Bustin, Stick Horse Rodeo, Pancake Breakfast, 4-H and FFA exhibits - including livestock, general projects and the Jr. Livestock Sale.

Where: Douglas County Fairgrounds and Event Center, 500 Fairgrounds Dr., Castle Rock, CO 80104

When: Thursday: 4 p.m. - 11 p.m, Friday: Noon -11:30 p.m., Saturday: 10:30 a.m.-11:30 p.m., Sunday: 7:30 a.m.-6 p.m.

Admission: $6 General Admission on Friday & Saturday, Free ground admission on Sunday courtesy of Castle Rock Bank.

Jefferson County Fair

What: It’s “the County Fair with an Urban Flair.” Enjoy 4-H exhibits, Kids Fun Zone and petting zoo, plus food and entertainment. 

Where: Jefferson County Fairgrounds, 15200 West 6th Avenue, Golden, Colo.

When: Friday: 5 p.m.-10:30 p.m., Saturday: 11 a.m.-10:30 p.m., Sunday: 11 a.m.-6 p.m.

Admission: $1 General Admission on Friday & Saturday, Free Family Day on Sunday

Film in the Park: Despicable Me 2

What:  Bring a blanket and enjoy a great family movie under the stars. 

Where: Civic Green Park, 9370 Ridgeline Blvd., Highlands Ranch, Colo.

Outdoor Adventure Day

What: Visit for a day of hands-on adventure learning.  Activities include archery, GPS navigation, a Big Bass Fishing game, a scavenger Hunt, and a guided nature trail walk.  Visitors will have an opportunity to make plaster animal tracks, learn to tie a fishing knot, and even get up close and personal with live animals.   

Where: The Wildlife Experience, 10035 Peoria St., Parker, Colo.

When: Saturday: 9 a.m.-3 p.m.

Admission: $5 (Museum members and kids 2 and under are free)

Dinosaur Discovery Day – Reptiles and Birds

What: Join the Friends of Dinosaur Ridge for free hands-on activities including gold panning, fossil sifting, and dinosaur track painting.  Be sure to check out the live snakes, lizards and other reptiles, as well as raptors that will be on display.  Guides will also be available to explain the geology and fossils along the trail.

Where:  Dinosaur Ridge Visitor Center, 16831 W. Alameda Parkway, Morrison, Colo.

Denver’s Historic Antique Row Neighborhood Block Party

What:  A fun-filled summer block party with entertainment, unique vintage, collectible and antique vendors, free antique appraisals, food tasting from local restaurants, kids face painting, and more.

Centennial Under the Stars – A Laserific Light Show and Concert Featuring DSB: America’s Favorite Tribute to Journey

What:  Grab your blankets and folding chairs.  This year’s annual event will feature live music from DSB: America’s Favorite Tribute to Journey, plus food and family activities.   The evening will end with a dazzling laser light show that is sure to amaze.
