LASALLE, Colo. - Crews from Union Pacific Railroad are working to clear a six-car train derailment that has leaked some crude oil into a ditch southwest of LaSalle.
One car of the 100-car train was leaking, but crews had contained it to a ditch away from any waterways after the derailment around 8 a.m. Friday. A vacuum truck was brought in to suck up the oil.
The amount of oil spilled has not been determined. LaSalle is about 45 miles northwest of Denver.
According to the Greeley Tribune, the 100-car train was loaded in Windsor with Niobrara crude and bound for New York.
Union Pacific spokesman Mark Davis says the cause of the accident has not been determined.
