DENVER - More than 450 veterans lined up in Denver Thursday to ask for help.
The veterans, many of them homeless, went to the annual Homeless Veterans Stand Down to get referrals and information on how to apply for housing help, benefits and jobs.
The annual Department of Veterans Affairs event took place at the Colorado Army National Guard Armory.
The Denver Regional Veterans Affairs Office is open for walk-in interviews with benefits counselors from 8 a.m. until 3:45 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and from 8 a.m. to noon on Wednesdays. The Regional Office Benefits Counselors are available by telephone (1-800-827-1000) from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. MST, Monday through Friday.
