LAKEWOOD, Colo. - Four people were hurt in a shed explosion in Lakewood Saturday night, according to Lakewood police.
People reported hearing a large explosion on South Ammons Street, near West Florida Avenue and South Allison Street, at about 8:30 p.m., Lakewood Police said.
Officers found a detached shed behind the house had exploded.
West Metro Fire put the fire quickly, Lakewood police said.
Two men at the scene were taken to local hospitals with burns and various other injuries.
A short time later, police said another man, who left the scene before emergency crews got there, walked into a local emergency room. That man also had various injuries and burns.
Details are not available on the fourth injured person.
Investigators believe there was some sort of illegal activity going on in the shed, but narcotics detectives said it was not a meth lab. Police said the public is not in danger from any chemicals or contaminants.
Hazmat and narcotics officers are still investigating and charges are pending.
No names have been released.
