Three young males were killed and a 17-year-old boy was seriously injured in a rollover crash near Conifer on Tuesday afternoon.

Just before 4:40 p.m., a Dodge Dakota pickup truck was traveling southbound near 12448 S. Foxton Road, east of U.S. 285, when the driver lost control of the pickup, said Trooper Nate Reid, a spokesman for the Colorado State Patrol.

The truck careened off of the right side of the roadway and began rolling over down an embankment until it came to rest in a creek, Reid said.

The Dodge was occupied by four males, Reid said. The driver and two passengers died at the scene. The third passenger, a 17-year-old boy from Kansas, was transported to St. Anthony Hospital with serious injuries.

An officer at the scene told Denver7's Liz Gelardi the fatal victims appeared to be in their teens or 20s. It's unclear whether any of the victims were from Colorado. Authorities were working to notify their families.

The State Patrol continues to investigate the crash.
