3 killed near Telluride headed to campsite

TELLURIDE, Colo. - Three people killed in a crash in southwestern Colorado over the weekend were traveling to a campsite after attending July 4th events in Telluride.

The Telluride Daily Planet reported Tuesday that the only passenger to survive was Weston Gleiss, a math teacher from Eagle Valley High School in Gypsum. San Miguel County coroner Emil Sante says he crawled out of the wreckage and flagged down a deputy on Colorado Highway 145.

Another Eagle Valley teacher, 26-year-old Garrett LaForce, along with 23-year-old Edward Bollman and 21-year-old Carly Sansone died in the crash early Saturday. Their Chevrolet Cruze went off the road and rolled several times down a steep embankment covered in loose rock.

The Vail Daily reports that LaForce, a native of Libertyville, Illinois, had just finished his first year as a teacher.
