3 immigration agents accused of raiding home near Aspen without a warrant go on trial starting today

DENVER - A federal civil trial is getting under way for three Immigrations and Customs Enforcement agents accused of raiding a home near Aspen without a warrant.

The trial is scheduled to start Monday in federal court in Denver.

The lawsuit says ICE agents Steve Turza, Christopher Carter and Vanessa Hipps targeted a family during a raid in March 2009. Sugay Guerrero, who filed the lawsuit, says the agents violated her constitutional rights.

The agents say they entered the home because they were concerned for residents' safety when no one immediately answered the door.

Guerrero says they pounded on her bedroom doors and lied by saying they were police responding to a car crash. She says they illegally detained her and her relatives.
