3 horses seized from Morrison property by sheriff's office where 18 were seized last year

MORRISON, Colo - Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office investigators and animal control officers served a search warrant Friday at 17346 Forest Ave. in Morrison regarding an on-going investigation of suspected mistreatment of three horses.

A veterinarian assessed the horses, and determined they were in poor condition and had significant health issues. The horses were taken to a horse rescue facility in the south metro area.

On May 21, 2013, 18 horses were seized at the same location.

The owners, Gary and Sandra Norman pled guilty to misdemeanor animal cruelty In January regarding those seizures.

The three horses seized on Friday were being housed on their property, but they are not the owners nor were they responsible for the care of the horses. No charges against the Normans are anticipated at this time, the sheriff's office said.

The owners of the three horses have not been identified but face possible charges according to the sheriff's office.
