$25,000 bond set for Patrick Ward, suspect accused of driving an SUV that hit and killed a cyclist

LYONS, Colo. - Bond was set at $25,000 Monday for the driver accused of hitting and killing a cyclist in Lyons on Saturday night.

Patrick Allen Ward, 69, is accused of being behind the wheel of the SUV that fatally hit Michel Van Duym, 46, around 5:11 p.m. The collision occurred at 160 Main Street.

Ward was arrested on suspicion of vehicular homicide, DUI, careless driving resulting in death and prohibited weapon.

Van Duym, who was identified for the first time Monday, was declared dead on the scene despite first aid efforts. The Boulder County Coroner said an autopsy has been completed on Van Duym's body, but the identification of the cause and manner of death are pending further investigation.
