FORT COLLINS, Colo. - A large construction crane that was used to remove a tree from a back yard in Fort Collins toppled when the large tree proved to be too heavy.
It happened around 3:30 p.m. at Robertson and Lake Street.
The 40-ton crane was pulled off the ground and was suspended a few feet in the air at a 45-degree angle, anchored by the 30-year-old Siberian Elm that it was attached to.
The crane is capable of lifting 50,000 pounds.
The homeowner wanted the tree removed because he no longer wanted it in his yard.
Information from the scene indicates the crane will remain all night because other cranes capable of pulling out the tree will not be available until Thursday.
