COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- Two people are dead and two others are recovering from injuries sustained in a shooting at a Colorado Springs townhouse Monday night.

Police responded to what they called an "active scene" at the home near North Academy and Village Road South around 9 p.m. Residents near the 3800 block of Village Road received automated emergency notifications on their phones warning of continued danger.

The circumstances surrounding the shooting aren't clear, but police said two people were killed, including one person believed to be the suspect.

The two other victims -- one shot in the abdomen and the other shot in the leg -- were taken to the hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.

As of about 3 a.m., officers said there was no longer any danger to the public.
