2 sisters arrested after woman assaulted, officer bitten

BOULDER, Colo. - Two sisters were arrested after Boulder police said they assaulted a roommate of one of the women.

Police also said one of the arrested sisters defecated in her swim suit and bit an officer on the arm, drawing blood as she was taken to the hospital, the Daily Camera reported.

A police report indicated police were sent to the 1900 block  of Arapahoe Avenue, near 19th Street, at 5:45 p.m. on a report of a disturbance.  When police arrived, a woman told them she had been assaulted by her roommate, Rachael Brogden, 23 and the roommate's sister, Lacey Brogden, 20, after she invited them to join her and several friends for a drink on the lawn.

She said Rachael Brogden, 23, began choking her with both hands after the woman made a comment to her. The woman told police that the sister, Lacy Brogden eventually pulled Rachael off her and began choking the woman herself.

When officers arrived, they handcuffed the two sisters but had to separate them when they started arguing with each other.

Rachael Brogden hit her own head on the ground several times, defecated in her swim suit and tried to spit at officers and paramedics, police said.

Lacey told police she jumped in when the roommate tried to strangle her sister but officers said they observed red marks on the roommate's neck. Officers also said the two sisters appeared to be intoxicated.

Rachael Brogden was arrested on suspicion of second-degree assault, second-degree assault on a police officer and two counts of third-degree assault, according to Boulder Jail records. Lacey Brogden was arrested on suspicion of second-degree assault.
