MOUNTAIN VIEW, Colo. - Two people, including a Mountain View police officer, were shot Sunday night  in an incident at a bar in the Denver suburb of Mountain View.

Mountain View police received a tip just after 9 p.m. that an auto theft suspect was inside the Jugz Sports Tavern at 4343 Sheridan Blvd.

Police identified the suspect as Marcus Ray Martinez, age 27, of Thornton.

An officer with Mountain View and an officer from Lakeside made contact with Martinez inside the bar and learned he had an active warrant issued for his arrest, according to Jim Lorentz, acting public information officer for Mountain View police.

Martinez pulled out a handgun and fired, hitting the Mountain View officer in the leg, investigators said. Martinez then turned the gun on himself and fired. Only two rounds were fired, both by the suspect.

Both the suspect and officer were transported to Denver Health Medical Center.

The officer, whose name is not being released, was treated and released for a non-life threatening injury.

Martinez  is listed in serious condition.

The Jefferson County Critical Incident Response Team is investigation the shooting.

Criminal charges of weapons violations, assault on a peace officer, and/or attempted murder are pending.
