GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. -  

Grand Junction police say a man and woman were taken to a hospital after an explosion at a home, but they are expected to survive.

According to police, preliminary information indicates a detonation inside a safe in the home at 1332 N. 23rd Street caused the explosion Thursday afternoon. The exact cause of the detonation wasn't immediately determined. A bomb technician was on scene evaluating the contents of the safe.

Police said nearby homes weren't in danger.
