2 charged with manslaughter in Thornton hit and run after argument with victim

Affidavit: Victim's fingers pried from open door

THORNTON, Colo. - Two people have been charged with manslaughter in the hit-and-run death of a friend during an argument.

Joshua Stewart, 29, died on April 19 after he was run over twice near 96th & Race Street in Thornton.

According to the arrest affidavit Stewart was a passenger in a van driven by 26-year-old Dannel Bond Kimble when they began arguing.  Stewart was holding on to the side of the van when Kimble started driving off.

A passenger in the van, Cynthia Marie Vigil, 52, pried Stewart's fingers from the open door frame of the van, according to the arrest affidavit. Stewart lost his grip and was run over by the van and then struck by a second vehicle.

Kimble and Vigil were advised of the charges Wednesday in Adams County Court. Kimble is set for preliminary hearing at 10 a.m. on May 14.
