COLORADO SPRINGS - Police arrested two suspects after a clerk was seriously injured during a botched robbery at a 7-Eleven in Colorado Springs early Friday.
Police were called at 12:13 a.m. about a disturbance at the convenience store at 330 S. Academy Blvd.
Police say two men entered the 7-Eleven and began to take items from shelves and hide them in their clothing.
A female clerk confronted the men, who pushed her out of the way of the door and fled the store.
A male clerk followed the two men outside to see if they had a vehicle, so he could get a license plate number.
But once the outside, one of the robbers attacked the clerk, police said. Officers arrived during the attack and arrested that suspect
The second suspect was arrested several blocks away. Several store items were found on the ground outside the store.
The male clerk was transported to a local hospital where he was treated for serious, but non-life threatening injuries, police said. The female clerk was not injured.
Police identified the suspects as Montinique Hill and Najee Jackson, both age 22. They were both arrested on investigation of robbery.
