15-year-old student arrested after ruckus in Waverly School

School teaches children with addiction problems

LARIMER COUNTY, Colo. - Deputies arrested a 15-year-old student after he allegedly had a dangerous outburst at an alternative school specializing in children with drug and alcohol problems.

Deputies were sent to Waverly School, located along North County Road 15 between County Road 66E and County Road 68 in Larimer County, around 11:56 a.m. The Larimer County Sheriff's Office said the initial call told them the teenager was breaking things and being disorderly.

The teen also allegedly had a lighter and was near some flammable liquids, which caused the Wellington Fire Department to be dispatched as well.

Initially, deputies said, 17 other children were locked down inside the school. After the situation was assessed, the school decided to evacuate those students.

"Once Larimer County Sheriff's Office deputies made contact with the 15-year-old disruptive male they were able to take him into custody and the juvenile male was cooperative once in custody," a spokesperson wrote.

Charges are pending against the teenager, but no additional information about his identity or the incident is being released at this time.
