GREELEY, Colo. - A man who admitted to providing the drugs a teenager fatally overdosed with was sentenced Friday. Derek Victor Perez, 21, will serve 12 years in a community corrections program.
Weld County District Attorney spokesman Heath Montgomery said records show Perez was arrested in December 2011.
Dallas Lee Bradford, 18, had recently graduated from Greeley West High School, Montgomery said, when she died as a result of overdosing on drugs. She died in her sleep.
Bradford's roommate told police the teen had used both cocaine and an unknown crushed pill. Toxicology reports later concluded she died of "multiple drug intoxication."
Montgomery said Perez pleaded guilty on Sept. 21 to one count of distributing a Schedule II controlled substance.
