Twelve inmates, and two drivers, were injured Friday when a prison transport van and another vehicle collided, according to the Colorado State Patrol.
The crash happened in Park County, on Wilkerson Pass on Highway 24, between Lake George and Hartsel. That's about 50 miles west of Colorado Springs.
CSP told Denver7 that all 13 people in the van were taken to the hospital. The Park County Sheriff told Denver7 the driver of the second vehicle was also hospitalized.
There is no word yet on the extent of the injuries or the victim's conditions.
The prisoners were being transported by a private company, trooper Josh Lewis with the Colorado State Patrol said.
