EVANS, Colo. - An 11-year-old Evans boy was shot and killed in a home Friday afternoon and his brother has been arrested.

The Weld County Sheriff's Office told 7NEWS the shooting happened on Grand Teton Road  in the Hill-N-Park area at about 5:15 p.m.

The victim was transported to North Colorado Medical Center where he died of his injuries about an hour later.

There were unconfirmed reports the victim was wrestling with a sibling over a gun when it went off, but the sheriff's office said they are not releasing that information.

The victim's 18-year-old brother was arrested for investigation of criminally negligent homicide, according to Sgt. Tim Schwartz.

Investigators are also working to confirm where the handgun came from.

“We have a pretty good picture of what happened but were not going to release any of those details yet," said Sgt. Tim Schwartz.

The boy's identity has not been released and the brother's name was withheld until other family members could be notified.
