Larimer County authorities are investigating the death of a 25-year-old female jail inmate at a local hospital Sunday.

Tiffany Ann Nobi was booked into the Larimer County Jail on Jan. 6 after being arrested by Loveland police on a felony theft warrant, according to court records.

Three days later, jail medical staff had difficulty waking Nobi and she was admitted to Poudre Valley Hospital, sheriff's spokesman John Schulz said in a Wednesday statement.

Doctors originally were concerned that Nobi might have meningitis, but they ruled that out, Schultz said. The woman had no signs of trauma or injury, and doctors were unable to determine the cause of her condition.

The Larimer County Coroner's Office said an autopsy was performed Wednesday, but no cause of death has been determined yet.

The sheriff's office will conduct an internal investigation into the hospital death, which is standard protocol in inmate fatalities, Schulz said.
