Bike racing fans, gear up. Lance Armstrong is coming to Colorado to compete later this year. The five-time Tour de France champion will take part in the Pro Cycling Tour's Rocky Mountain Classic.

The event will be held in Vail on Sept. 4 and 5, and include a race from Vail to Beaver Creek and a criterion race in Vail Village. There will be a citizens ride from Denver to Vail on Sept. 3.

Pro Cycling Tour Commissioner Anton Villatoro said the Vail event is one of only two professional cycling races in the United States that Armstrong will take part in this year.

Armstrong is an inspiration to many after his successful battle with cancer and his numerous Tour de France wins.

The Pro Cycling Tour is America's largest professional cycling organization hosting over 350 of the world's best male and female cyclists. Other PCT events are held in New York, Philadelphia and San Francisco.
