A Lakewood toddler, who was found severely injured on Wednesday, has died.

Lakewood Police spokesman Steve Davis said 2-year-old Dolci Gryshayeva died on Friday.

The child's mother was not home at the time of the incident. The girl was left in the care of the mother's boyfriend, Keith Ruiz, police said.

Ruiz was arrested on Wednesday. Davis said Ruiz will face amended charges, which could be child abuse resulting in death by a person in a position of trust, which is a Class 1 felony.

Lakewood police and paramedics from West Metro Fire were called to an apartment on South Vance Street and West Center Avenue shortly after 5 p.m. Wednesday to investigate the report of a child who was not breathing.

Several friends called the child Dolci Joselyn Gryshayeva-Aragon on Facebook

Family friends tell 7NEWS the child's mother is dealing with a second tragic death in less than a year.

On November 19, Daniel Aragon, who friends say was Dolci's father, fell to his death from a bridge onto a parking lot at what was then known as Invesco Field at Mile High.

Police said at the time that Aragon was wanted for a parole violation and had jumped from a moving car during a chase.
