7NEWS is proud to be the official media sponsor of the 7th Annual Thornton WinterFest. As the City of Thornton's signature holiday event, Winterfest is one of the state's largest winter festivals and one of the only few free holiday events in town.The City of Thornton's WinterFest is a unique experience for the whole family, attracting more than 20,000 people from all over the Denver metro area.WinterFest transforms Thornton's Multipurpose Field into a magical Santa's Village, covering nearly 5 full acres with 425 holiday trees, 125,000 sparkling lights, a 4,000 square foot skating pond, an outdoor stage that hosts holiday entertainment performances, fire pits to keep guests cozy, a variety of food vendors and plenty of children's activities.Other featured activities include: Santa's Village -- kids can visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus Elf Workshop visitors can meet live elves and watch them make toys Gingerbread House with free gingerbread cookies LIVE Holiday Firework Show the northwestern sky will light up with a spectacular fireworks show choreographed to holiday music Miniature Structures: Fire House, Moose Inn, School House and more custom built buildings Ice Sculpting Demonstrations Dazzling Ice will display their ice carving talents and visitors can take pictures with the frozen masterpieces Holiday Marketplace great for last minute gifts Childrens Craft Shoppe interactive crafts that children can assemble and take home for FREE Holiday Traditions Around the World an exhibit of pictures, crafts and other icons from holiday traditions spanning the globe; this mini-museum features story-telling and a docent who will give tours WinterFest Holiday Movie Screening watch Polar Express on the big screen in the event tent Wonderland Woods Community Tree Decorating Contest individuals, families, organizations and businesses will decorate 7-8 foot trees with their favorite holiday decorations; winners will be announced on the Outdoor stage at 6:30pm on Saturday

Santa and Mrs. Claus will arrive in the heart of Santas Village on the Multipurpose Fields where they will assist the Mayor and City Council members with pulling the switch to turn on the Villages holiday lights.6:30 p.m. 9 p.m. -- Festive Activities in Santa's Village
- Visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus 6:45 p.m. – 9 p.m. Ice-skating on the Village Pond 6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. Entertainment by local choirs Ice carving demonstrations Holiday Traditions Around the World Wonderland Woods tree voting
