CENTENNIAL, Colo. -- The veteran who's been living in a storage unit due to Colorado's increasingly expensive housing market is in a new home thanks to a Denver7 viewer who's also a veteran and a trauma surgeon.

Denver7 Investigator Ryan Luby answered dozens of emails and phone calls from people across the country who wanted to help.

Even though most of us don't like the idea of suddenly starting an all new chapter in life, Chris Cline welcomes it because he's been living in the storage unit for roughly two years.

"I don't know quite how to put it into words," he said Tuesday.

He's gladly leaving behind the 70-square-foot storage unit he's been leasing for roughly $160 per month.

"I work full time; I still can't make it in this city," he said in his original story with Denver7 that aired on Sunday.

His path to a better life, at least in the short term, comes from having the courage to share his story. It also comes from the Glenn family in Centennial that listened and offered him a space to stay for free.

"If you have some, you can give some, I think," Jackie Glenn said.

Glenn and her husband are both veterans who served the country over the years. She is now a trauma surgeon.

"I've not always been fortunate to have space and the opportunity to help, and people reached out to me when I was in need.  And it's important to me to be able to pay that forward," she said.

Cline said he will not overstay his welcome at the Glenn family home. He said he has every intention to find a permanent, affordable place of his own. For now, though, he's grateful.

"It's very, very nice to know there are people out there who still care," he said.
