Hundreds Take The Plunge For Charity

Swimmers Brave Cold Water In Boulder

Hundreds braved the frigid temperatures in Boulder on Saturday to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Association.

The annual Polar Plunge drew 750 participants to Boulder Reservoir, despite a windchill of 6 degrees, according to event organizers. The water temperature was 34 degrees.

No plungers were injured during the event, despite the extreme cold. Organizers said there a couple of participants complained of being light-headed and that a few others with medical conditions were checked out.

Event organizers were still tallying donations, but said more than $28,000 was raised online.
